Wizards can’t afford to start slow in NBA bubble

The Washington Wizards now know when and where their season will resume. The NBA released its schedule Friday, and Washington will tip off July 31 against the Phoenix Suns at ESPN's Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando. That kicks off a 13-day sprint that features a total of eight games, concluding with a Aug. 13 finale against the Boston Celtics.

DeMarcus Cousins to sit out of resumed season: report

The Athletic reported Cousins won't sign with any team to participate in the NBA's relaunched season near Orlando. The 29-year-old big man has missed all of this season with an ACL tear, but some teams had been reportedly eyeing him for when play returns next month.

Redskins to retire Bobby Mitchell’s number

The Washington Redskins will retire No. 49 to honor running back Bobby Mitchell, the team's first black player, who died earlier this year -- making him just the second Redskin to have his jersey retired in the team's 88-year history.
