OPINION:
A democratic socialist like state Rep. Francesca Hong could not win in Wisconsin just a few years ago. She would be considered too radical for the ultimate swing state. That, however, could change this year.
Past posts on social media are resurfacing about the crazy comments Rep. Hong made on a series of issues. Some point to her repeated pleas to defund and abolish the police. She is on video saying that “police officers enforce the law with state-sanctioned violence.” She goes on to say we should “dismantle police unions” and “defund the police.”
State Rep. Hong said an officer-involved shooting in Madison, Wisconsin, was an “execution.” She told an angry mob, “We no longer can have a system that protects a power and a privilege that puts the pain and lives of armed officers over black people. We cannot protect a system that continues to rain harm and terror.”
After a police involved-shooting years ago in Kenosha, where the officer was cleared of wrongdoing, Rep. Hong posted this crap: “Police exist to uphold white supremacy. Defund, then abolish. Reform can’t be an option. My heart breaks for the trauma the Blake family and their community continues to endure.”
Several other posts make similar comments, including one that says, “1. Defund Police 2. Defund Police 3. Defund Police 4. Defund Police,” and another says, “I support defunding the police as a first step towards abolishing the police.” Yet another says, “Police exist to uphold white supremacy. Defund, then abolish. Reform can’t be an option.”
Reading others’ posts and comments suggests that she wants to get rid of more than just the police. One of her posts reads: “Abolish the Senate,” while she also said, “It’s about fucking time we 86 Trump” during an interview.
Francesca Hong even wants to get rid of holidays. In the past, she posted, “Cancel Thanksgiving. Should have done this in 1621. If it takes a worldwide pandemic for us to realize we should stop celebrating colonialism and the original superspreader event that killed indigenous folx [sic] and women, so be it.” Wow! This is some crazy stuff.
She previously complained about Christmas on X: “IT bro who was working on “our” computer remotely changed the background theme to snow and Christmas trees. I feel slightly attacked…” Guess we can kiss the state Christmas Tree goodbye if she is the Governor.
She posted, “I do not like fireworks.” And even said that “Culver’s cheese curds are mediocre at best,” which is interesting as the iconic restaurant chain is based in Wisconsin. Is there anything normal that she does like?
A visit to Culver’s exposed that she is a racist. She posted this after a stop: “I ate two bites of my kid’s cheeseburger at a Culver’s in black river falls and told him they ran out of ice cream. Mostly just wanted to leave bc I was on the verge of an anxiety attack… to many old white people who didn’t think we spoke English.”
She and other radical democratic socialists want to change references to mothers in state statutes to inseminated persons, allow biological men to compete in women’s sports, and support the mutilation of minors. A few years ago, these would have been radical ideas — even for Democrats.
For some time, the leaders at Young America’s Foundation and other aligned organizations have warned that the radical indoctrination in colleges across the country would show up in the rest of our lives. What is happening in Wisconsin and Michigan should be a wake-up call across the nation. The college students with the crazy ideas are starting to vote.
Democratic socialists want the government to take over private ownership of industries in the private sector. New York City is now pushing government-run grocery stores. Chicago, Illinois and Madison, Wisconsin, tried in the past but have yet to succeed.
One look at the economic chaos in Venezuela and you can see why the government taking over private industry is a bad, bad idea. The economy is a wreck in the once-prosperous country. Democratic socialists ruined it.
That said, conservatives should not assume that a radical democratic socialist cannot win in a swing state like Wisconsin. Voters, particularly younger ones, are upset about the cost of living, price of homes, and lack of careers. We have to remind them that the ideas of democratic socialists do not work and will make their challenges worse, not better.
As conservatives, we have to show that limited government, lower taxes, and less red tape are the better ways to reduce costs, lower housing prices, and improve the economy. We can’t assume that people automatically know the truth. We have to share the facts with them—before it’s too late.
