Guard at No. 11? Kenyon Green could be fit for Commanders

The last time Washington used a first-round pick on a guard, however, worked out just fine-- Brandon Scherff is now a five-time Pro Bowler and a one-time All-Pro. Maybe it's time for the Commanders to take a swing on the position again.

To try and acquire a veteran quarterback, the Washington Commanders have started to lay what Ron Rivera calls "the minimal groundwork." They've called teams to check in on possible targets -- expressing their interest and reminding them they have "potential" to get a deal done with draft picks, he says.

NFL combine provides opportunity for Commanders to get deals done

Castillo adds different demeanor, experience to Rivera’s staff

Juan Castillo politely made one thing clear Wednesday when he was introduced as the Commanders' new tight ends coach: He is not Pete Hoener. As someone with over 25 years of coaching experience, Castillo noted how he differs from the fiery Hoener, who could often be seen cursing up and down the sideline to motivate his group before retiring last week.

Capitals inching closer to full strength during weeklong break

As the result of an odd scheduling quirk, the Capitals haven't played a game since last Thursday and don't resume play until this Thursday -- giving them a weeklong break in the dog days of the season.
