Wizards taking ‘big picture’ approach to Kristaps Porzingis’ health

ESPN's Tim Legler came out firing after the Washington Wizards traded for Kristaps Porzingis last week. Appearing on "NBA Today," Legler hailed the trade as a win for the Mavericks simply because they were able to get rid of him. He said it was more than time for Dallas to move on.

Zimmerman made D.C. a baseball town again

Ryan Zimmerman is the one who stayed. Not Bryce Harper. Not Anthony Rendon. Maybe, one day, not Juan Soto, either. But as he retired from baseball Tuesday, Zimmerman leaves the major leagues just as he arrived -- as a Washington National.

Rising tensions have NFL on collision course with Snyder

The NBC report was just one of the latest ways that Snyder and the NFL have been pitted against each other in the last week. Last Wednesday, the league was reportedly blindsided by the fact Snyder planned to launch an investigation into new claims made by former employee Tiffani Johnston -- and an investigation the league quickly looked to undercut, with Commissioner Roger Goodell saying that the team couldn't investigate itself.

NFL says Commanders blocking release of documents to Congress

The NFL wrote in a letter to the House Oversight and Reform Committee that the Washington Commanders, not the league, are blocking the league from turning over more than 100,000 documents the committee requested as part of Congress' investigation into the NFL's probe of the team.

Caldwell, Schoenefeld found each other before finding gold

Freestyle skier Ashley Caldwell always shared the same piece of advice to athletes: Don't date your teammates. So naturally, the four-time Olympian and Virginia native did the opposite. For the last three years, she's been in a relationship with fellow freestyle skier and Olympian Justin Schoenefeld.

The Wizards roster underwent a dramatic overhaul Thursday at the NBA trade deadline as Washington acquired center Kristaps Porzingis in exchange for guard Spencer Dinwiddie and forward Davis Bertans, shipped center Montrezl Harrell to the Charlotte Hornets for guard Ish Smith and forward Vernon Carey and dealt guard Aaron Holiday to the Phoenix Suns.

NFL never ‘been hotter’ as Super Bowl 56 caps end to dominant season

Al Michaels has seen a lot in his legendary broadcast career. But as he prepares for Sunday's Super Bowl between the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals -- possibly his last as NBC's play-by-play man -- this year's spectacle differs from past games the 77-year-old broadcaster has called. And it's not just because of the teams involved.

Commanders used foreign country to help keep trademarks secret

The Burgundy and Gold initially filed trademark applications for the Commanders name and logo in Trinidad and Tobago -- all the way back in August. As the Cleveland Guardians did with their trademarks, Washington took advantage of a little-known treaty from 1883 that gave the team priority on the marks when it was time to register them in the U.S., as well.
