John Muir's love of America's wild places was legendary, as was Theodore Roosevelt's, who believed -- after meeting Muir -- strongly in saving the continent's treasures for future generations. The legacies of both men -- and the men and women who have fought for generations since on that mission -- can be seen in wondrous silver screen glory this Friday when "National Parks Adventure" begins screening in theaters nationwide.

‘Monday at 11:01 a.m.’ was inspired by Stephen King’s writing

It's an idea that Stephen King would have been proud of, said Charles Agron, the star and writer of the new suspense thriller "Monday at 11:01 a.m.," now playing at the AMC Hoffman Center 22 in Alexandria, Virginia. "I'm a huge fan of making scary films, but I also like to kind of put layers to the story," Mr. Agron told The Washington Times of the new film, adding he was influenced by "The Twilight Zone" series of twisted tales.

Kathy Griffin says stand-up comedy remains a sexist industry

Kathy Griffin is afraid of offending no one. The comedian and actress has, purposely or otherwise, stepped on the toes of the Catholic Church, the Kardashians, Anderson Cooper, Donald Trump and just about everyone else in her stand-up routines. Miss Griffin will bring her caustic comedy to EagleBank Arena on the campus of George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, Thursday evening, but one stop on her current 80-city tour, which the performer has dubbed "Like a Boss."

‘Floyd Norman: An Animated Life’ brings Disney cartoonist’s work into limelight

"Floyd Norman: An Animated Life," from Erik Sharkey ("Drew: The Man Behind the Poster") and Michael Fiore, premiering at Santa Barbara International Film Festival this weekend, follows the legendary Disney animator, who was forced out of the Mouse House as he aged, only to be brought back into the bowels of the cartoon empire due to his seniority, having studied under the tutelage of Disney's old guard, but now finding himself as the "old-timer" in an industry that has largely turned away from hand-drawn animation in favor of pixels.

Santa Barbara Film Festival offers plethora of documentaries, searing drama

The 31st annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival kicks off this weekend in the glorious American Riviera, with awards, special guests, celebrity tributes to the likes of Sylvester Stallone and Johnny Depp and, of course, films galore. While it's impossible to see absolutely everything on offer (trust me, I've tried), here are some films to keep an eye out for that I've had a chance to take a look at. It was bound to happen. "We were going to do a parody book because the book was so hot. And then we saw the movie, and we thought, 'Oh, this has got to be a movie,'" said Marlon Wayans, who stars in "Fifty Shades of Black" and also co-wrote the film with Rick Alvarez.

Winter in Utah means skiing.
