"Youth" is about anything but being young. Its grizzled hero of sorts is 80-something British composer and conductor Fred Ballinger (Michael Caine), who has long since left the queen's realm behind for retirement at a health resort in the Swiss Alps populated by silent types who seem to do little more than bathe and consort in the nude.

‘Hitchcock/Truffaut’ shows French auteur interview Master of Suspense

In one of film history's most famous interchanges, French New Wave auteur Francois Truffaut, then but 30, sat down for a weeklong series of conversations with Alfred Hitchcock, in which the Master of Suspense expounded freely on his life, his career and cinema theory. The end result was the book "Hitchcock/Truffaut," now translated to the screen by documentarian Kent Jones.

‘Theeb’ director Naji Abu Nowar hopes film will change Western views of Middle East

While film director Naji Abu Nowar wants to tell stories about the culture of his Middle Eastern ancestors, the British-born director's authorial influences come from cultures both west and east of his family's native Jordan, where he was partially educated as a young man. Mr. Nowar co-wrote and directed the new film "Theeb," which tells the story of the titular young Bedouin (Jacir Eid Al-Hwietat) who embarks on a treacherous desert journey alongside his brother Hussein (Hussein Salameh Al-Sweilhiyeen) and a mysterious English soldier (Jack Fox).

Tracy Lawrence uses Turkey Fry to help Nashville’s neediest

Tracy Lawrence is spending the holiday week not only giving thanks but giving back: The country music star and his family have taken time from their Thanksgiving preparations to help some of Nashville's neediest.
