Wizards look to overcome inexperience in big spots to save season

The Wizards' season will now come down to Thursday when Washington hosts the No. 9 Indiana Pacers for the Eastern Conference's eighth seed in a do-or-die game. Win, and the Wizards get to face the Philadelphia 76ers in the postseason. Lose, and their season is over. This time, they better hope their inexperienced guys can handle the moment.

Ryan Kerrigan leaving Washington for Eagles? Brian Mitchell can relate

Philadelphia fans, as Mitchell can attest to Ryan Kerrigan, don't cut anyone much slack. Least of all the former Redskins, Nationals and other Washington stars who've made the trek up Interstate 95 in search of greener pastures. Mitchell knows what it's like to go from playing an entire career in one town, firmly entrenched on one side of the heated rivalry, only to end up in the other.

Bradley Beal, Russell Westbrook lead underdog Wizards against Celtics

When the Wizards were rolling in April, Charles Barkley made a declaration: Washington would win the play-in tournament. And not just that, but the Hall of Famer and "Inside the NBA" analyst said "none of those teams" in the Eastern Conference should want to see the Wizards in the playoffs.

Ryan Kerrigan signs with Philadelphia Eagles

As the weeks of free agency with Ryan Kerrigan going unsigned dragged on, a hopeful question made the rounds among Washington fans: Does a lack of interest elsewhere open the door for the veteran's potential return to the Washington Football Team? The answer came Monday, and it has to sting for local fans.

Craig Anderson’s emergence latest part of Capitals goalie tightrope

All year, the Capitals have walked a tightrope when it comes to their goaltending situation. Washington rotated mostly between Vitek Vanecek, a rookie who spent five years in the minors, and Ilya Samsonov, the 2015 first-rounder who has failed to seize control of the starting job for a number of reasons. But now, Washington's title aspirations -- at least in the short term -- might just come down to Anderson.

Capitals overcome Vitek Vanecek injury to beat Bruins in Game 1

Oshie set up the game-winning goal in Washington's 3-2 victory over the Boston Bruins in Game 1 of Washington's first-round playoff series -- firing the puck from the blue line that deflected off Nic Dowd's stick and past Bruins goaltender Tuuka Rask with 15:19 left in overtime.

Tim Tebow’s potential return to NFL nothing but polarizing: ‘Got a job before Kaepernick’

Tim Tebow has not signed a contract yet with the Jaguars, but multiple reports indicate that coach Urban Meyer is interested in reuniting with his former college quarterback -- despite the fact that Tebow hasn't appeared in a regular-season NFL game since 2012. But the perception that Tebow is getting another opportunity before Colin Kaepernick has been enough to set off critics eager to slam the league.

Washington opens 2021 schedule against Chargers, closes with NFC East stretch

The NFL released its 2021 schedule Wednesday, and Washington's 17-game slate contains plenty of intrigue as the team looks to repeat as NFC East champs next season. The most notable stretch for Washington will be its five straight division games to end the season -- the first of its kind in franchise history since 1970, when Washington closed with six straight divisional foes.
