Young defends slow start: ‘You gotta block out the haters’

Chase Young was a busy man this past offseason. Filming one commercial to another -- serving as a face for eBay, Under Armour and others -- the Washington defensive end learned to juggle his time between being a professional athlete and his newfound life as a businessman. Young even chose to skip the team's voluntary practices to keep up with his schedule, though he often maintained his own workouts -- going as far as to send footage to coach Ron Rivera over texts.

Before Tampa, after Tampa: One game changed it all for Heinicke

Taylor Heinicke estimates he got only 45 minutes of sleep on the night his life changed forever. Riding high in the wake of an electric -- if ultimately unsuccessful -- playoff performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last January, the Washington quarterback spent hours returning text messages from friends and family.

Washington cuts kicker Chris Blewitt, signs Joey Slye

The Washington Football Team cut kicker Chris Blewitt on Tuesday and signed Joey Slye, parting ways with Blewitt after two games. Last week, coach Ron Rivera hardly endorsed Blewitt, telling reporters that he was the team's kicker "for now."

State Farm backs Rodgers despite vaccine controversy

The insurance company is standing by the Green Bay Packers quarterback after Rodgers found himself in controversy over comments he made recently about the vaccine. On Friday, Rodgers, who is on the NFL's COVID-19 reserve list, defended his decision to not get the vaccine -- decrying the "woke mob" during an appearance on the "Pat McAfee Show."

The Kirk Cousins era in Minnesota feels more than familiar

Four seasons into the Cousins' era with the Vikings, the conversation around the quarterback's career hasn't really changed since he left Washington as a free agent in 2018. The former Redskins starter is still just as polarizing -- only now it's Minnesota fans, not Washington's, that get to debate whether the quarterback is to blame for his team's losing record, or if it's the circumstances around him.

Bricks, clanks and airballs: Inside the NBA’s shooting woes to start new season

Even the top basketball players in the world are badly off the mark sometimes. But this season, if it seems like players are missing more shots than normal -- your eyes aren't deceiving you. More than two weeks into the new campaign, teams are averaging 107.6 points per game and shooting a collective 44.8% from the field. That's down almost a full five points (112.1) and two percentage points (46.6%) from last season.

Montez Sweat to miss at least a month with broken jaw

Washington pass-rusher Montez Sweat suffered a broken jaw in Sunday's loss to the Denver Broncos, a source confirmed -- a major blow to the team's defense and defensive line. Sweat will reportedly miss four to six weeks because of the injury. The 2019 first-rounder is second on the team in sacks with four and he makes a strong tandem with Chase Young.

Blewitt keeps Washington kicker job ‘for now’

For now. Those are the words Ron Rivera used when asked if Chris Blewitt was still Washington's kicker. Rivera's answer was hardly a vote of confidence and it was obvious why: Blewitt has had more kicks blocked (3) than field goals made (2) in the two games since he took over the job.

Watson stays with Texans at NFL trade deadline

The Miami Dolphins passed on the embattled Houston Texans quarterback ahead of Tuesday's NFL trade deadline, according to multiple reports. The Dolphins reportedly had conversations about trading for Watson, but ESPN reported Miami owner Stephen Ross ultimately decided not to go through with the deal.
