Mike Glenn grew up on Navy bases as the son of a career sailor but then decided to annoy his father and joined the Army after he graduated from high school in the Dallas area. He did a hitch as an enlisted soldier in Germany during the Cold War, where he spent a considerable amount of time in the field on maneuvers. After leaving the Army, he moved back home to northeast Texas and entered the University of Texas at Arlington where he studied history. He also took Army ROTC classes at UT Arlington and upon graduation received a commission as a Second Lieutenant. He was assigned to the 3rd Cavalry Regiment at Fort Bliss in El Paso and took his platoon to the Middle East where he fought in the Gulf War. He got into journalism after Operation Desert Storm and has worked at newspapers and magazines throughout Texas. He joined The Washington Times from the Houston Chronicle. Retired Navy chief accused of bilking investors out of thousands

A retired U.S. Navy chief petty officer is accused of targeting current and former members of the military in a fraudulent investment scheme that raked in more than $350,000. Robert L. Murray Jr. also is accused of spending half the funds on gambling and other personal expenses, according to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Russia fires missiles from Ukraine’s neighbor as Kyiv counterattacks

Russia launched a barrage of missiles at Ukraine's capital from neighboring Belarus early Thursday as Kyiv's counter-offensive in the crucial city of Kherson appeared to be gathering momentum. At least 20 missiles were fired from Belarus, Moscow's key ally in its five-month-old invasion of Ukraine, striking an apartment block in the Chernihiv region as well as buildings outside the country's capital.

Army tests electric Humvee for future battlefield use

The Army picked General Motors to provide them with a GMC Hummer EV for a test drive as the service looks to fill a requirement for a light- to heavy-duty battery electric vehicle to reduce the military's reliance on fossil fuels in garrison and in the field.
