OPINION:
If you have seen the leftist riots burning their way across France this month, you have seen the future of our own country — if Democrats take control of Congress in the midterm elections.
In less than two weeks, Americans will go to the polls, if they have not voted already, to decide whether to keep Republicans in charge or to turn the legislature over to folks who encourage the type of thugs currently threatening to breach the walls of the Louvre and torch the “Mona Lisa.”
That is not hyperbole, and you do not have to take my word for it. You just need to remember the Summer of Love in 2020, when leftists set fire to cities across America while elected Democrats cheered them on. You must also recognize that they are setting the stage to do it again.

Look at Rep. Ro Khanna, California Democrat, who definitely sees a president staring back at him in the mirror every morning. At the outbreak of the French riots, he made a lengthy social media post that sweepingly embraced the grievances of the rioters and brazenly promised to pursue the policies they are demanding, right here in the United States.
Naturally, he omitted the fact that the hooligans are considered ultraleftists, even by the standards of the liberal French authorities, and are shot through with far-left agitators as well. Instead, he adopted the left’s language and laundered the agitators’ image.
“In America, let us listen to our young,” Mr. Khanna wrote, in part. “We need an economic and political transformation.”
No leftist will ever say it more clearly than that — “an economic and political transformation” — but what they really threaten is leftist violence to usher in their leftist policy goals. Rather than being horrified by the violence on the streets of France, Mr. Khanna and his partisans see potential, and they are openly inviting the same sort of mayhem they tried to exploit politically six years ago.
A Democratic victory in November would have other devastating effects that would not burn down any buildings but would destroy the country just the same.
Democratic majorities in Congress would immediately begin to undermine national security and public safety by restricting what President Trump can do to maintain control of the border and a zero-tolerance policy on illegal immigration. Obviously, Democrats would reduce or eliminate funding for all the immigration enforcement programs they despise, which includes all of them.
Every Democrat running for the House or Senate anywhere in America has promised to repeal the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, which means that all of them would raise taxes by the largest amount in history. Right now, there are no federal taxes on tips or overtime pay, and seniors receive an enhanced deduction on Social Security income, but if Democrats return to power, they will eliminate those benefits and everyone will pay.
It would not end there, because Democrats would need much more revenue to pay for all their plans, especially “Medicare for All.” That massive government takeover of healthcare would not only make your private health insurance illegal but also require trillions of dollars in new taxes to fund it.
Democrats are already responsible for every piece of legislation that created the federal healthcare system that everyone hates, and they are known to be in bed with the health insurance cartels. Why would anyone trust them with the pen all over again?
When it comes to national energy policy, it is good practice to look at the sky every time a Democrat complains about gas prices, because it seems certain that a lightning bolt will slice down from above.
Everyone knows that leftists fervently want high fuel prices because they want to push people away from fossil fuels entirely. This is often stated very clearly as one of their policy goals, and we should believe them. They do not want cheap gasoline or diesel because that makes it harder for them to force you to change your lifestyle to fit their beliefs.
Further, if Democrats regain power, they would certainly pursue Superfund laws that would punish private companies for the lawful, fully permitted production of the energy that keeps our entire economy running. At the same time, they would clear the way for massive lawsuits that seek to bleed the energy companies of billions of dollars for the same lawful activity, so they can fund their leftist wish lists.
This would increase fuel prices enormously, almost overnight, which, again, is their goal.
Rarely are there elections with such obvious choices as this one presents, and it is rarer still to have a ready illustration of what the wrong choice would look like.
Witness the burning of France and ask yourself: Do you want that coming to a street near you?
