Wizards general manager search shaping up: reports

Redskins’ draft didn’t solve everything

The Redskins have been widely praised for last week's draft that saw the franchise take quarterback Dwayne Haskins at No. 15 without having to trade up, followed by a move to jump back into the first round for Montez Sweat, a pass rusher many consider a top 10 talent.

Redskins laughed at Cardinals’ trade demand for Josh Rosen: report

The Washington Redskins ultimately chose to draft a quarterback instead of trading for Josh Rosen last week -- taking Ohio State's Dwayne Haskins with the 15th pick. But the Arizona Cardinals reportedly called Washington to gauge their interest in Rosen on draft night.

Montez Sweat motivated by draft day slide

Montez Sweat was at a Top Golf with 40 to 50 members of his family and friends when his slide on draft night began. Once expected to be a top 10 pick, the 22-year-old edge rusher watched as each pick went by, only for his name not to be called.

Referees for Rockets-Warriors come under fire

Houston Rockets guard Chris Paul and coach Mike D'Antoni were each assessed technical fouls for arguing a non-call in Sunday's loss to the Golden State Warriors. Afterward, star James Harden said he wants a "fair chance" from the referees.

Redskins add speed, offense in this year’s draft

Every NFL team stresses they'll take the best player available on their board, but the Washington Redskins had clear objectives in this year's draft: They wanted to upgrade their offense and wanted to add speed.

Dwayne Haskins urged Redskins to take him

During his pre-draft visit with the Washington Redskins, Dwayne Haskins went out for a steakhouse dinner with coach Jay Gruden and other members of the organization. Over the course of the evening, the parties got to know each other. Haskins, for instance, got a taste of Gruden's quick-witted sense of humor.

The Washington Redskins traded back into the first round Thursday -- selecting Mississippi State pass-rusher Montez Sweat with the 26th overall pick.

Redskins draft Dwayne Haskins with 15th overall pick

When Alex Smith went down with a broken leg last November, it was obvious to many the Washington Redskins would again be in the market for a quarterback -- specifically one they could tout as the future of the franchise. On the first night of the NFL draft, the Redskins believe they found their man.
