Security officers at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport got an early Halloween surprise when a man tried to get a pair of pointed claws straight out of “A Nightmare on Elm Street” through a checkpoint.
Transportation Security Administration officers saw the object, which resembles Freddy Krueger’s or Wolverine’s famous hand blades, while X-raying bags.
“I saw three blades and distinct claw-like features,” Officer Douglas Linn said in a TSA report published Tuesday. “I was amazed, and even more so when it came out of the bag. I have never seen anything like this during my two years at TSA.”

A property search officer, Dennis Oishi, quickly noted a dangerous object inside the individual’s bag. When he asked the passenger if there was anything sharp inside the bag, the man said he “wasn’t sure,” according to Responding Supervisory TSA Officer Ann Rhoades.
The man voluntarily removed the item from the luggage.
Robert Spinden, Seattle TSA’s federal security director, said, “Officers Linn and Oishi demonstrated the vigilance, teamwork and professionalism that define TSA’s mission every day.
“Their actions prevented a prohibited item from moving beyond the checkpoint and reinforced the importance of careful screening, clear coordination and calm execution.”
