Nate McLouth to have shoulder surgery, miss rest of season

McLouth was placed on the disabled list Aug. 2 with what was initially described as shoulder inflammation. Manager Matt Williams said the 32-year-old outfielder has since been diagnosed with a torn labrum. He will have surgery Thursday and is expected to be ready for spring training in 2015.

Cody Hoffman starred as rare non-Mormon at BYU before joining Redskins

Hoffman spent five seasons at Brigham Young University, graduating last year as the most prolific receiver in the program's 91-year history. But at a school where 98.5 percent of the student body belongs to the Church of Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hoffman was a religious foreigner.
