Chase Young trying to be ‘smart’ with hip flexor injury

Due to the missed time, Young remains mostly with the backups. Despite his draft status, Washington wants Young to earn his spot -- thus far giving Ryan Kerrigan and Montez Sweat the starting reps. It's a position that Young hasn't faced in a few years as he had become one of the nation's best pass rushers at Ohio State. But Young said he likes having to prove himself.

Brian MacLellan says Caps need experience at helm

The Capitals fired Reirden, 49, on Sunday and are now searching for a new head coach again, just two years after the franchise let veteran Barry Trotz go and elevated then-assistant Reirden.

Wizards to pick ninth in NBA draft

The Washington Wizards will hold the ninth pick in the NBA draft after the league held its lottery selection show Thursday. The team had only a 4.5% chance of winning the No. 1 pick and a 50.7% chance to pick ninth, according to the NBA's formula of determining odds.

Ron Rivera diagnosed with lymph node cancer

Washington coach Ron Rivera shared the news with his team Thursday evening that he has been diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma, a form of skin cancer.
