Cornyn booed at Texas GOP convention for negotiating with Democrats on guns

Sen. John Cornyn was booed at the Texas Republican Party's annual convention Friday for his efforts to craft a bipartisan deal on guns and school safety. Mr. Cornyn's advocacy for red-flag laws has particularly been of concern to critics who say gun owners' due-process rights will be violated.

Senators break logjam on guns, school safety with bipartisan deal

Senate lawmakers edged closer to breaking a decades-long logjam on gun policy Sunday, announcing a bipartisan framework for expanding background checks and funding school safety efforts after a spate of mass shootings created a heightened sense of urgency among lawmakers.
