Wyoming Capitol restoration provides a link to yesterday

By BECKY ORR - Associated Press

In this photo taken on Feb. 26, 2014, Suzanne Norton, left, and architect Thomas Whetstone stand above the glass rotunda of the Wyoming Capitol in Cheyenne, Wyo. The cornerstone of the Capitol was laid in 1887, before Wyoming achieved statehood, and additions were made to accommodate the growing Legislature in 1890 and 1917. A proposed bill would appropriate $259 million for a complete renovation of the statehouse that would include a smoke detection and fire suppression system, updated ventilation and electrical systems, and a long list of overdue repairs and improvements.
