SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - A psychology professor has been ordered to stand trial in Southern California for the 1995 murder of a man she says raped her.
The Orange County Register (https://bit.ly/1coKAJJ) reports a judge found Wednesday that Norma Esparza should stand trial in the killing Gonzalo Ramirez, a man she says attacked her after she met him at a bar 18 years ago as a college student.
Esparza, a professor at an American university in Geneva who previously testified before a grand jury in the case, is one of four people who prosecutors allege plotted to kill Ramirez.
She turned down a plea bargain in November that would meant three years in state prison, saying prosecutors were trying to get her to falsely plead guilty.
She could get a life sentence if convicted.
