DANBURY, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut woman accused of trying to hire a hit man for $1,500 to kill her husband has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder.
Fifty-eight-year-old Elvira Rosa of Waterbury entered the plea Wednesday in Danbury Superior Court. She remains jailed on $250,000 bail.
Police told The News-Times (https://bit.ly/O6cHHR ) that Rosa wanted her husband dead so she could use the $20,000 from his life insurance policy to help her cousin’s husband and two children, because the cousin was in jail. Her 60-year-old husband lives in Patterson, N.Y.
Rosa was arrested Feb. 12 after police say she tried to hire a hit man, who turned out to be an undercover police detective. She’s due back in court March 26.
