In this May 3, 2017, file photo, former President Barack Obama speaks at a community event on the Presidential Center at the South Shore Cultural Center in Chicago. The Obama Presidential Center will not be a part of the presidential library network operated by the National Archives and Records Administration. Public park advocates have filed a lawsuit against the city of Chicago seeking to stop construction of the center. The group also wants to bar the city from giving control of the center's site to the Obama Foundation. (AP Photo/Nam Y. Huh, File)

Barack Obama gilds his legacy

This is a story of priorities and hypocrisy, brought to us by a president who saved the Union and was murdered for it, and a president whose policies and malevolence damaged both the nation and the world, and who is being rewarded for it.

Chip and Joanna Gaines have a foundation in faith and family that blunts cheap shots

Last week, an opinion writer caused a bit of a stir by insisting that Chip and Joanna Gaines, of HGTV's "Fixer Upper" fame, are frauds who lie about putting their family first. It's a strange assertion made by someone who has never met the Gaineses, but he decided anyway that the wildly accomplished couple can't put family first specifically because of their business success.

In this Nov. 30, 2016, file photo, artwork and signatures cover a fence around the Pulse nightclub, scene of a mass shooting, in Orlando, Fla. Jurors in the federal trial of Noor Salman, the Pulse nightclub gunman's widow, have gotten a look inside his Florida condo through crime scene photos taken as FBI agents searched the home. They also saw some of her husband Omar Mateen's web browsing history Tuesday, March 20, 2018, including beheading videos created by the Islamic State group Mateen had pledged allegiance to. Salman is accused of aiding and abetting her husband in the 2016 attack that left 49 people dead. (AP Photo/John Raoux)

How do you know something very much disturbs the left and their narrative? When it is big news, but if you relied on the Google news lineup, or The New York Times front page, you would have no idea it happened.

Hillary Clinton sneers at the thought of an Ivanka Trump presidency

Hillary Clinton has not had a good week. In the aftermath of her trip to India and awful comments about Americans and women in particular, most of her allies and Democrats in general were explicit that it was time for her to leave the political arena. The shorter message from Democrats to Mrs. Clinton was "shut up and go away."

Hillary Clinton and her operatives

A criminal referral released by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley, Iowa Republican, discloses that Mr. Steele wrote a previously undisclosed Oct. 19, 2016 memo. It wasn’t part of the 35-page dossier posed on Jan. 10, 2017 by BuzzFeed.

The referral extracts one highly redacted paragraph that refers to information going to Mr. Steele from an Obama State Department official and two Hillary Clinton associations.

Mr. Steele’s full Oct. 19 memo remains classified by the FBI.

In a previous letter, Mr. Grassley asked the Democratic National Committee to provide any communications it conducted with Clinton operatives Sid Blumenthal and Cody Shearer.

Hillary Clinton still misses the point

Woe are the Democrats. For generations now, they've been telling the American people that only they, and their cohort of liberals and leftists, understand and truly value women. Because of their special understanding of women, only they can be trusted to do what's right politically for them, they tell us. Then came Hillary Clinton pulling the curtain back on that dangerously false narrative.

Liberals in California normalizing the chaos

Liberal policy failure is all around us and destroys lives every day. In California, the destruction of society and individual lives has become so overwhelming, the state's liberal overseers now spend their time covering up where they can and normalizing the chaos as much as possible.

Barack Obama knew that foreign entities were interfering, and he did nothing

There is a lot of noise lately, and less signal, about the now debunked "Trump colluded with Russia" narrative. After special counsel Robert Mueller indicted 13 Russians for trolling Americans during the 2016 election, Democrats and various malcontents are in a tizzy to move their narrative goalposts. "Well," they insist, "Trump said the whole Russian thing was a hoax. Now it's proven it wasn't," or some such nonsense.

Dawn breaks over the Capitol in Washington, Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, as House GOP leaders are proposing to keep the government open for another six weeks by adding a year's worth of Pentagon funding to a stopgap spending bill. But Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer says that approach, fully funding the Defense Department but only providing temporary money for the rest of the government, won't go anywhere. (AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite)

Government wastes, loses billions and shrugs off losses

A new audit about a Pentagon agency losing hundreds of millions of dollars is reported by Politico as an "exclusive." While that's technically correct, a government agency losing or wasting or misplacing millions, billions and even trillions of dollars (this is not hyperbole, folks) is nothing new.

David Ige addressed the media during a press conference at the Hawaii Emergency Management Center at Diamond Head Saturday following the false alarm issued of a missile launch on Hawaii. Gov. Kenneth Hara as new head of Hawaii's emergency management agency after a faulty alert was sent to cellphones around the state warning of an incoming missile attack. (George F. Lee/The Star-Advertiser via AP, file)

Hawaii’s false alarm shows incompetence of liberal government

Hawaii. Even just the name promises paradise, and rightly so. The islands and her people are magnificent, an example of how humanity can be a working partner with the power and beauty of nature. Until politicians and the incompetent (but I repeat myself) turn a tool meant for good into a button for terrorizing.

Golden Globes dress, mock sexual predation in black

Most people did not watch the Golden Globes, one of the many parties in which the entertainment industry pats itself on the back and gives its friends awards. But, to paraphrase a few on Twitter, it was at least nice for Hollywood take a break from raping each other for at least one evening.
