The lawyer who battled for illegal immigrant teens seeking access abortions in the U.S. will be one of Democrats' witnesses against Judge Brett Kavanaugh in next week's confirmation hearings. Rochelle Garza served as guardian for several illegal immigrants in Texas who clashed with the Trump administration over their pregnancies, battling all the way to the circuit court of appeals in Washington, where they won their case -- over the objections of Judge Kavanaugh.

W.Va. ousts GOP spoiler Blankenship from Senate race

McConnell calls for study of McCain tributes

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday he's putting together a "gang" of senators to recommend tributes to Sen. John McCain, and suggested ideas such as hanging a portrait in the reception room or attaching his name to the offices of the Armed Services Committee.

John McCain has died of brain cancer, Vietnam War hero and senator was 81

John McCain, veteran of the Vietnam war, more than 35 years in Washington, two presidential campaigns and countless personal and political revivals, died Saturday after a year-long bout with brain cancer, leaving a legislative legacy unmatched by any Republican of his generation.
