One man died and two others remained hospitalized Tuesday after overdosing at Wheaton Metrorail station on Monday.

First responders went to the scene at about 8 p.m. after the three overdoses were reported. The three men, none of whom were identified by authorities, were located in different parts of the station, Montgomery County Fire & Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer said on social media.

The men are thought to have gone into cardiac arrest, Mr. Piringer said in an update, and were taken to the hospital as priority patients.

The three men were alive at the time they were transported, the Montgomery County Police Department said on social media, with one of them dying at the hospital.

Neither fire officials nor the police specified which drug or drugs the three men are thought to have taken. First responders administered Narcan, which reverses the effects of opioid overdoses, to each man prior to their transportation to the hospital, according to WTOP-FM.

The authorities have not said whether the three men knew each other. The police said that investigation is ongoing.
