RG3, Redskins come up short against Rams in 31-28 loss

Washington Redskins wide receiver Joshua Morgan was penalized 15 yards for throwing the ball at St. Louis Rams cornerback Cortland Finnegan with 1:18 remaining in a 3-point game, pushing the Redskins out of field-goal range in a 31-28 loss.

Redskins defense doesn’t rest

The visitors' locker room inside the Superdome in New Orleans is divided into two sections. There's a room for offensive players and, if you walk through a short passage, you get to the defense's area. Inside there late Sunday afternoon, there might have been a new noise level record for a unit that just gave up 32 points.

RG3 feeling fine after first NFL game

The New Orleans Saints tackled quarterback Robert Griffin III or contacted him to the ground 13 times during the Washington Redskins' 40-32 victory Sunday. Three days after taking that punishment, Griffin felt OK.

Redskins rookie running back Alfred Morris, shown scoring one of his two touchdowns, says he has to be ready for a handoff at all times from fellow rookie Robert Griffin III when Washington utilizes its zone-read running scheme. Redskins: Zone read gives RG3 pass, run, handoff options

It took only two plays in Sunday's season opener for the new Washington Redskins offense to come into focus. Quarterback Robert Griffin III is dynamic with his right arm and his legs, and coach Mike Shanahan is going to exploit that in a way familiar to anyone who watched Griffin play his way to the Heisman Trophy at Baylor last season.

RG3’s breathtaking debut one for the record books

Robert Griffin III's NFL debut somehow managed to match the excessive hype that preceded this day for months. How he got to that historic perch, though, is the strongest indication this is a new version of the Redskins' offense, not the anemic ones of previous last-place seasons.

Redskins to see how they match up with Saints’ high-powered offense

No one could blame Mike Shanahan for turning green Sunday afternoon when he sees the New Orleans Saints' offense at work in the Washington Redskins' season opener. The Saints ranked first in the NFL last season in yards per game and per play; second in points per game and first in first downs. And they have a record-setting quarterback at the controls.

RG3: The X’s and O’s

Quarterback Robert Griffin III became a national superstar at Baylor because of his exceptional throwing and running ability. It's a combination that Redskins coach Mike Shanahan hopes will terrorize opposing defenses for many years.

Something strikes Robert Griffin III as funny during a strategy session with offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan during a preseason game against the Colts. Hip-hop music thumped off the walls of the Allison Indoor Football Practice Facility on Baylor University's campus the morning of March 21. Robert Griffin III and other Baylor seniors compiled for their pro day a mix that included popular hits and some lesser-known, slowed down "screwed" beats from the subgenre born in Texas.

Robert Griffin III’s progress as the Redskins’ quarterback was aided by immediately being named the starter, enabling the rookie to practice as such all offseason and throughout training camp.

RG3 is armed with confidence

Robert Griffin III will put his headphones on inside the visitor's locker room at the Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday morning, listen to some of Michael Jackson's hits and achieve a sense of calm about making his NFL debut.

Diligence rewarded for Redskins’ Kory Lichtensteiger

Doubt crept into Kory Lichtensteiger's mind about two weeks ago. The Washington Redskins' first-string left guard wasn't just worried about whether his surgically repaired right knee would prevent him from playing against New Orleans this Sunday.
