ST. LOUIS — Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon is expected to miss Sunday afternoon’s game against the St. Louis Rams because of a right foot injury, a source said Sunday afternoon.
Garcon is expected to test his foot before the game, but he and the team were pessimistic about his availability as recently as Saturday night.
Aldrick Robinson is expected to start in his place as Washington’s X receiver.
Garcon had four receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 against New Orleans. He left the game after his 88-yard run for a touchdown.
The Redskins listed Garcon as questionable on the team’s injury report. Garcon did not practice Wednesday, and he was limited in practice on Thursday and Friday.
Coach Mike Shanahan was hopeful about Garcon’s status on Friday because he saw improvement in his condition. Shanahan said Garcon’s availability depended on whether he could tolerate the pain in his foot. Garcon would not risk further damage to his foot, Shanahan said.
Robinson had four catches for 52 yards and a touchdown against New Orleans.
