ERNEST ISTOOK: Gun control propaganda blinds us

The Oregon murders should be more than fodder for gun control propaganda and fanaticism, which interfere with the lessons we should learn: Absent fathers create alienation; sensational media coverage only provokes more violence.

In this April 28, 2015, file photo, demonstrators stand in front of a rainbow flag of the Supreme Court in Washington, as the court was set to hear historic arguments in cases that could make same-sex marriage the law of the land. Gay and lesbian couples could face legal chaos if the Supreme Court rules against same-sex marriage in the next few weeks. FILE - In this Feb. 11, 2015 file photo, Vice President Joe Biden listens as President Barack Obama speaks about the Islamic State group, in the Roosevelt Room of the White House in Washington. Biden faces the daunting decision of how and when to re-enter public life after burying his 46-year-old son. On Wednesday, Biden returns to Washington for lunch with the president and a meeting with the Ukrainian leader, but he'll head straight back to Wilmington, evoking memories of the nightly trips home that Biden took after he lost his first child decades ago at the start of his political career. ERNEST ISTOOK: Obama White House’s lack of transparency

Two days of congressional hearings demonstrated how the Obama White House shuts down the people's right to know what their government is doing. Even the usually liberal media are upset that President Obama is keeping the bureaucracy's inner workings concealed.
