Sign-wielding protesters in pink t-shirts briefly disrupted the opening of a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on global terrorism threats Wednesday morning.
One demonstrator called out out to senators arriving for the hearing, which featured testimony from National Intelligence Director James R. Clapper and other top officials.

“Shouldn’t we be asking for James Clapper’s resignation for lying to Congress? Isn’t that an offense?” the demonstrator said — referencing recent claims by some lawmakers that Mr. Clapper has not told the truth to Congress about the surveillance activities of the National Security Agency.
The protesters, carrying placards with messages such as “Stop lying,” yielded after a few moments to calls for quiet by senators and U.S. Capitol police.
“I will ask that the Capitol Police remove anyone who disrupts this hearing,” the Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein, California Democrat.
