BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - A man who is charged with breaking windows at two Billings banks says he did so to draw attention to a ring of methamphetamine traffickers who had held him captive.
The Billings Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/TTToVq ) 44-year-old Shane Carr was arrested early Monday and charged in Justice Court on Tuesday with felony criminal mischief or two alternative counts of burglary. His bail was set at $10,000. His District Court arraignment is set for June 5.
Court records say someone called 911 at 4:15 a.m. Monday from a First Interstate Bank branch saying someone was trying to kill him. He said he was going to break into every bank until the FBI was contacted about the trafficking ring.
Responding officers didn’t find anyone at the First Interstate branch, but spotted broken windows at the nearby Stockman Bank. Carr was arrested inside.
