This 2012 photo provided by Sandy Bannon shows Margaret Rohner, left, with her son Bobby Rankin. The day after Christmas 2013, Rohner, 45, was viciously attacked with a fireplace poker, her eviscerated body left in the living room of her Deep River, Conn., home. Rankin, 23, was charged with her murder. It was a tragic end for a woman who had spent years trying to find appropriate care for her son. (AP Photo/Sandy Bannon)
