Fireworks popped and, microphone in hand, James Brown bellowed the name of everyone from the assistant clubhouse manager to Screech, the Washington Nationals' hyperactive, eaglelike mascot.

Nationals’ Michael Morse out for at least six weeks

The Washington Nationals put Michael Morse on "total shutdown mode" for the next six weeks after he aggravated his right lat strain this week, leaving them without their cleanup hitter until at least June.
