Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, President Trump’s outstanding choice to be the 88th attorney general of the United States, is a superbly qualified nominee and must be confirmed by the United States Senate without delay.

At a time of war, it is critically important for Mr. Blanche — who was confirmed just last year as our nation’s deputy attorney general with unanimous Republican support — to be approved swiftly. We need a Senate-confirmed chief law enforcement officer in place to fully defend America from dangerous enemies, both foreign and domestic.

This is no time for juvenile political theater or Senate Democrats’ typical stall tactics. The American people voted for law and order, supporting police, combating fraud, strong borders, secure elections and locking up terrorists and drug traffickers. Mr. Blanche is an integral leader in the effort to fully implement the president’s successful agenda to make America safe again.

When it comes to upholding the Constitution and defending our God-given liberties, Americans can rest assured that Mr. Blanche is a fighter in their corner, a fearless advocate for justice and the right man for the job in these challenging times.

In Mr. Blanche, the American people get a tough, smart, special talent and a seasoned attorney fully dedicated to enforcing the laws on the books, without exception. Throughout his career, Mr. Blanche has proved time and again that he will apply the law equally.

As a veteran of the Justice Department and a former assistant U.S. attorney, he is perfectly suited to take the reins with no learning curve. This attribute is of paramount value to Mr. Trump, who has no time for nonsense or on-the-job training.

America is at war in the Middle East, our homeland is still under grave threat from the Biden-Harris illegal immigrant invasion, and the radical, socialist left is determined to undercut law enforcement. They want to abolish U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and defund police whenever possible.

Not to mention that billions of taxpayer dollars have been looted from our nation’s generous social welfare programs.

As Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles E. Grassley said of Mr. Blanche at his recent confirmation hearing: “The Senate has already judged your fitness for high office and confirmed you as the department’s second-in-command. … We are not starting from a blank slate. You have a track record.”

That track record happens to be exemplary. America is safer under Messrs. Trump and Blanche than it was under the previous administration.

Let us remember that President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and Attorney General Merrick Garland worked with far-left Democrats to “reimagine policing.” By now, Americans are fully aware of what this reckless policy really means: George Soros-backed prosecutors allowing criminals to threaten our neighborhoods with no accountability.

By contrast, Mr. Blanche wakes up every morning thinking of ways to support the courageous men and women of law enforcement at every level of government. This is what millions of patriotic Americans voted for.

Our country has what is projected to be the lowest homicide rate since 1900. The FBI’s violent crime arrests are up 184% over 2024 levels. Nearly 850 people have been disrupted from carrying out acts of terrorism. More than 44,000 illegal firearms are off the streets, and the Drug Enforcement Administration has made more than 6,300 fentanyl arrests to date under the Trump administration.

This can be described only as success, and always putting America first.

Fittingly, an amazing 670,000 law enforcement officers and 100 bipartisan Justice Department officials have voiced their support for Mr. Blanche becoming our next attorney general. Perhaps a letter signed by 77 former U.S. attorneys and Justice Department officials said it best: “The nation has been safer with Todd Blanche at the helm of the Department of Justice.”

It is time for the Senate to confirm Todd Blanche. The American people deserve no less.
