Nationals call up shortstop Luis Garcia from minors

After spending the first two months of the season in Triple-A, the 22-year-old shortstop prospect was recalled by the Nationals ahead of Wednesday's game against the New York Mets. Garcia was called up to replace Alcides Escobar, who sustained a right hamstring strain on Tuesday night.

Soto breaks slump as Nationals secure first home series win of season

Sometimes, all it takes is one great swing to bust a slump, and that's what Soto did in the first inning of Washington's 6-5 win over Colorado on Sunday when he crushed a two-run home run to help lead the Nationals (18-31) to their first series win at home this season.
