Redskins’ struggles with discipline resurface

The Washington Redskins finished Sunday's game with 11 penalties, after only picking up a total of seven over its previous two games combined. An issue with discipline that appeared to be improving cropped up again, and it threatens to be a problem for the rest of this lost season.

Nicklas Backstrom out vs. Rangers; Capitals do salary-cap gymnastics with four call-ups

Nicklas Backstrom is day-to-day with an upper-body injury and will miss the Washington Capitals' game Wednesday night at the New York Rangers. Meanwhile, a pair of injured players and a potential player suspension have made the Caps need to substantially tweak the roster, calling up four players from AHL Hershey in order to keep the team under the league's salary cap.
