This Jan. 12, 2020 photo shows 22-year-old Mayada, a tea vendor 7-months pregnant with twins, the result of a gang-rape by Sudanese security forces, in Khartoum, Sudan. Dozens of women were raped on June 3, 2019 as security forces attacked a sit-in protest camp in Khartoum, according to activists’ counts. Mayada wanted to end the pregnancy, but a pharmacist refused to sell her pills to cause an abortion. She hurt herself, lifting heavy objects and throwing herself off furniture, hoping for a miscarriage. She gave birth in March to a daughter, while the other twin, a boy, died. She doesn’t know the names of the men who raped her, much less which is the father. (AP Photo/Nariman El-Mofty)

They believe it was a coordinated campaign ordered by the military's top leadership to crush the spirit of the pro-democracy movement. The trauma center at Khartoum's Ahfad University documented at least 64 rape victims. Abdulla managed to get out of the mosque compound. "We heard women screaming and crying" as they were raped, she said. (AP Photo/Nariman El-Mofty)
