Associate Schools Superintendent Denise Douglas said in a message to families that the “temporary closure allows for the necessary infectious period to pass and enables facility crews to conduct a comprehensive deep cleaning and sanitization of the school building,” according to WTOP.
Ms. Douglas told families to “keep children home if they exhibit any symptoms of illness and to practice standard preventive measures, including regular handwashing and covering coughs and sneezes,” WJLA-TV reported.
Details about when the school will reopen and plans for instruction during the closure were sent directly to families.
