ATLANTA (AP) - A convicted metro Atlanta serial rapist has been given six life sentences plus 140 years in a series of cold case rapes.
Prosecutors say 63-year-old Daniel Wade, known as the ’Maintenance Man,’ was sentenced Wednesday in Fulton County Superior Court. He was found guilty of a number of charges Friday.
Wade, who was already convicted of robbery, was convicted of raping five women between the ages of 10 and 64 between 1986 and 1987. Authorities have said in some cases, Wade posed as a maintenance man to gain entry into the victims’ homes along the I-85 corridor in northeast Atlanta.
A cold case unit revisited the cases in 2007 and linked DNA from all five victims to a single suspect. Wade was identified as the suspect in March of 2011.
