Wade Davis to Cubs; Nationals lose out on closer candidate

The World Champion Chicago Cubs acquired All-Star reliever Wade Davis from the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday for outfielder Jorge Soler. Davis takes over the closer role for the Cubs from free agent Aroldis Chapman.

The Nationals have acquired veteran outfielder Adam Eaton from the Chicago White Sox for right-hander Lucas Giolito, right-hander Reynaldo Lopez and right-hander Dane Dunning.

Maryland to face Boston College in Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit

Maryland will face Boston College in the Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit at 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 26. It will be the third bowl appearance in four years and 27th all-time for Maryland. The bowl will be the 12th meeting between the schools who were both part of the ACC from 2005 to 2014.

Yoenis Cespedes, Mets agree on 4-year, $110 million deal

Arguably the biggest bat on the free agent market, Cespedes reportedly agreed on Tuesday to a four-year, $110 million contract with the New York Mets, pending a physical according to Yahoo Sports. The deal was first reported by FoxSports' Ken Rosenthal.
