After lobbying from the Delaware Atheist Meetup and the American Humanist Association, Delaware Gov. Jack Markell has declared Feb. 12 "Charles Darwin Day," the first state in the country to formally mark the occasion, and a move is afoot to get the federal government to come on board.

U.S. drivers are seeing rising gasoline prices for the first time in months, according to the latest survey posted Thursday by AAA. Within the last week average U.S. gas prices increased by 11 cents from $2.04 per gallon on Jan. 29, to $2.15 per gallon on Thursday, Feb. 5, the drivers' advocacy organization said.
With the clash between Congress and the White House over the Canada-to-Texas Keystone XL pipeline nearing a climax, the head of the Canada's Alberta province said Wednesday that slumping energy prices would have no effect of his country's determination to build the pipeline.
