Senate Democrats block additional $250 billion for small business loans

Senate Democrats blocked a move by the Trump administration Thursday to provide businesses with another $250 billion to keep their employees on the payroll, even as 6.6 million more people applied for unemployment benefits and the three-week toll for job losses reached 1 in 10 American workers.

Reps. Murphy, Katko introduce bipartisan bill for after-action coronavirus commission

Reps. Stephanie Murphy and John Katko floated the first bipartisan bill Friday for an after-action review of the country's response to the coronavirus. Mr. Katko, a Republican from New York, said the committee will be modeled after the bipartisan 9/11 Commission established after the 2001 terrorist attacks. If approved, the committee would not begin its work in earnest until March 2021.
