Virginia begins early voting for primary elections

Voters in Virginia can begin casting ballots Friday for the state's upcoming primary election. Democratic voters have 12 gubernatorial candidates to choose from, while the state GOP primary will only select nominees for local offices and House of Delegates races. A May 8 convention of the state GOP will choose the party's statewide-office nominees, including for governor.

House advances D.C. statehood bill in party-line vote

For the second time in 10 months, the Democratic-controlled House on Thursday approved statehood for the District in a bill that will face strong Republican opposition in the 50-50 split Senate.

D.C. parking enforcement to resume in June

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser announced Monday that several government functions that had been suspended during the coronavirus pandemic, including parking enforcement, will resume within the next few months.

D.C. residents frustrated by month-long mail delay

Sheryl Augustine has lived in the Ward 5 neighborhood of Carver-Langston area for 12 years, and says slow mail delivery has become "extremely crippling" in recent days. She is among dozens of residents in the northeast part of the District who say their first-class mail has not been delivered by the U.S. Postal Service in nearly a month.
