Charlottesville hate crime case faces delays due to trove of evidence, possible death sentence

The FBI has gathered more digital evidence against James Alex Fields Jr., the Ohio man charged with federal hate crimes in the death of a counterprotester killed during the Aug. 12 "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, than the amount of data collected by authorities investigating the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013, attorneys said in a court filing Thursday.
