2 shot and injured at troubled D.C. apartment complex

Two people were shot during an apparent burglary attempt early Tuesday inside Tyler House, a Northwest D.C. affordable housing complex that was the site of a drive-by shooting in which 13 people were injured last week.

Stiffer charge sought for making threats in Maryland

Two men arrested after threatening to go on shooting sprees last year in Prince George's County faced misdemeanor charges that were far less severe than the nature of the threats made, according to prosecutors supporting legislation that would make it a felony to issue threats of mass violence in Maryland.

Thirteen people were injured in a drive-by shooting outside an apartment complex in Northwest D.C. early Monday in a sudden burst of violence involving what residents described as dozens of gunshots.

D.C. fire officials address ambulance problems in bizarre press event

The D.C. fire department now has two fully-stocked, reserve ambulances ready to be put on the street in case others have mechanical problems — a new tactic meant to prevent an incident such as occurred Tuesday, when several ambulances had mechanical problems and none were available to transport a police officer injured in a hit-and-run to a hospital.
