PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The average price of a gallon of gasoline in Rhode Island has dropped 3 cents in the past week, but that decline may be short-lived.
AAA Northeast said Monday while self-serve regular is now selling for an average of $2.49 per gallon, the weekend attacks on two major oil facilities in Saudi Arabia have taken 6% of global oil supply off the market that could soon translate into higher prices at the pump for Americans, at least in the short term.
Rhode Island’s current price is 7 cents lower than the national average for regular, and 36 cents lower than the in-state price a year ago.
AAA found a range of 39 cents, from a low of $2.30 to a high of $2.69 per gallon.
