OXFORD, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a 54-year-old man has died after being ejected from his snowmobile when it crashed into a guide rail along a central New York road.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office says Michael Buchanan of Bainbridge was snowmobiling in the neighboring town of Oxford around 10:40 p.m. Tuesday when he lost control, struck a guide rail along Quarry Road and was thrown from the sled.

Deputies say he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
