Tupelo mayor joins Council of Mayors

TUPELO, Miss. (AP) - Mayor Jason Shelton has been named to the Mississippi Council of Mayors.

WCBI-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1cpAic6 ) the appointment was made by Gov. Phil Bryant.

The council is made up of nine Mississippi mayors and is an advisory group for issues facing communities across the state.

The group typically talks with state officials about such issues as quality of life and the job market in Mississippi.
