ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Police in Athens say a man was ejected from his rolling SUV after an officer struck the vehicle with his patrol car to end a highway chase.

The Athens Banner-Herald reports (https://bit.ly/OnCyv1 ) authorities Sunday tried to pull over a black Ford Explorer after receiving a report that it was being driven by a man wanted on an outstanding warrant for stalking.

Athens-Clarke County police Sgt. Jim Peden says the SUV driver evaded a roadblock maneuver by pulling into oncoming traffic on Highway 29. He says because the fleeing motorist was endangering other drivers, an officer struck the Explorer’s rear quarter panel - a move intended to make the vehicle spin out and stop.

The Explorer started rolling and ejected the driver. His name and medical condition were not immediately released.
