OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Jury selection is slated to begin Monday in the capital murder retrial of Tevin James Benjamin, accused in the 2008 shooting death of Michael David Porter.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1kBbofv ) the trial is being held at the Lafayette County Courthouse in Oxford.

The Mississippi Supreme Court ordered a new trial for Benjamin, one of several teens convicted in the slaying of Porter after he stopped at a Moss Point gas station to ask for directions to his grandson’s football game.

The case was initially tried in Jackson County Circuit Court. Circuit Judge Dale Harkey will preside over the new trial. The venue was changed in the case because of the pre-trial publicity from the previous trials.
