The Winter Olympic Games are a winter multi-sport event held every four years, starting in 1924. Consisting of winter sports, the Games have included alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, figure skating, ice hockey, Nordic combined, ski jumping, and speed skating. Other events have been added as the Games have progressed, and some of them, such as luge, short track speed skating, and freestyle skiing have earned a permanent spot on the Olympic programme. Others, like speed skiing, bandy, and skijoring were demonstration sports but never incorporated officially as Olympic sports. However according to news published 7/6 at bandynet.ru bandy might enter the programme in 2014 as a branch of skating. International Skating Union in 2007 got the right to within 3 years add another discipline. ISU and Federation of International Bandy already have an agreement to share the same arenas. - Source: Wikipedia
