TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - A Florida man convicted of stealing a car and shooting a police officer faces a possible life sentence.
Court records show that 28-year-old Terrest Colston pleaded guilty in Tampa federal court Friday to carjacking, brandishing a firearm and other charges.
Authorities say Colston stole a car a gunpoint in Lakeland last July. Police attempted to pull him over several hours later, and Colston fled on foot after crashing the stolen car. Police say Colston shot the pursuing officer, but the officer survived and shot Colston in the leg. Other officers arrived and arrested Colston.
