BRISTOL, R.I. (AP) - A Bristol man injured when the dragster he was working on shot across a street and crashed last week has died.
Police tell The Providence Journal (https://bit.ly/1jQwYfY ) that 51-year-old Steven Elmslie died at the hospital on Thursday, a week after the crash.
Witnesses told police that the dragster shot out of the parking lot of Elmco Tool Co., across a street, and crashed into steel meat smoking shed behind a restaurant, narrowly missing a worker.
Police said Elmslie was knocked unconscious. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital in critical condition.
The cause remains under investigation.
