“Star Wars: Starfighter,” in production for a May release, is zooming out of this world on its reported budget, according to Forbes.

The next entry in Disney’s “Star Wars” franchise is on track to be the most expensive movie ever made, surpassing the 2015 “Star Wars” entry, “The Force Awakens,” which had a gross budget of $638.9 million.

“Starfighter” is flying in at $226 million as it wraps production, not reflecting forthcoming marketing costs.

The Ryan Gosling-led feature is set five years after “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” and is proving to be a gamble for Disney after this year’s “The Mandalorian and Grogu” may have signaled that audiences are not lining up for the franchise as much as they did in the past.

While it made back its $165 million budget, “The Mandalorian” underperformed Disney’s expectations and has a gross of $345.8 million.
