OPINION:
Forty-three percent of U.S. voters between the ages of 18 and 24 years old say they’re OK with Sharia law coming to America, according to a Rasmussen Reports/Our Republic survey. Thirty-nine percent of voters between the ages of 25 and 29 years old say the same. And of likely adult voters, regardless of age, 21 percent have a positive view of Islamic law.
This should leave Americans speechless.
Sharia is the Islamic practice of ruling by an iron Muslim fist — that is, of requiring all to bow down and obey the strict religious-slash-political orders of the carefully selected few. It’s the law that says women can’t drive or show their faces or hands or legs or any skin whatsoever in public. It’s the Islamic belief that anyone outside the Muslim faith is an infidel and must either convert, or die, or in some cases, pay a tax — a jizya. It’s the Muslim practice of cutting off the hands of thieves and marrying off little girls to older men and teaching the next generation about the evils of the West, of Israel, of America, and training that terrorists, err, the faithful, who die during the cause of bombing infidels go to heaven and have lots of virgins.

It’s everything that the Constitution is not.
It’s everything that freedom is not.
And it seemed as if America were awakening to this threat from the Muslim world — the very threat that’s destroying the European nations right now — the very threat that began with the opening of the borders and failure to force those who enter to assimilate. It seemed as if U.S. politicians were waking up and smelling the jihad.
“Sharia-Free America: Why Political Islam & Sharia Law Are Incompatible with the U.S. Constitution,” the House Judiciary Committee posted in a headline for a hearing in February.
Rep. Keith Self, Texas Republican, in a letter to the Judiciary Committee, wrote in part: Sharia “does not recognize the right to liberty as understood in the United States, as it requires submission to Allah above individual autonomy, restricts religious freedom and free speech, and does not provide equal treatment for women, or individuals living lifestyles deemed unacceptable under Islamic law.”
LGBTQ, anyone?
More from Self: “Sharia imposes rules governing personal behavior, including dietary restrictions and limits on social activities, and does not recognize the right to pursue happiness in the American sense.”
Forced worship.
Forced prayer to what other denominations hold as a false god.
More from Self: “Material or personal fulfillment is expected to be secondary to spiritual obligations, and individual choices are judged through the lens of religious and moral duty, with actions considered harmful or contrary to Islamic law discouraged or prohibited.”
It should seem natural for Democrats, with their anything-goes attitude and their zero-morality teachings, to detest the ideas of Sharia. Think abortion. Think sexual promiscuity billed as freeing. Think gender-busting and gender-bending notions, and the overall and generalized destruction of the traditional family. Democrats ought to be the natural enemies of all-things-Sharia because everything Democrats want, the Sharia-compliant world would set on fire or toss off a rooftop and kill.
But surveys say: it’s the self-identified Democrats who see Sharia as less a problem for America than, oh, say, Israel.
“One-third of Democrats, a plurality, say America’s alliance with Israel poses a greater threat to the country’s future than Sharia,” The Heartland Institute reported.
The alliance between Democrats and Islamists is astounding — until you recognize that the basic interests of both groups are to bring about a society of collectivism, filled with citizens who obey.
And Democrats have been able to corrupt the public school systems for enough years that the coming generation of voters have bought into the collectivist mindset, which is to say the path to Sharia.
